Body Care Products

Things you put on your body affect your well-being. I take it as a given that if something touches my skin, it ends up in my tissues. To avoid chemicals in body products, I stick with brands that I know are natural. To save money, use coconut oil on your body, wash hair less frequently, pare your cosmetic routine down to the essentials, and use clothing for sunscreen. There is always a solution! Here are my favorites:

  • Natural deodorant is important because you put it so near major lymph nodes of the body. Avoid parabens and aluminum. Two brands I like Herban Cowboy

  • For body skin care, I like to use oil with magnesium in it. Magnesium is needed for over 600 biochemical reactions in the body, and is especially important for your heart and muscles. It is critical for the proper use of calcium. Your skin is a large organ that you can actually touch and treat directly, so it’s a good opportunity to nourish your body. This is a skin moisturizer and supplement in one:

  • For body soap and many household cleaners/products, I like Public Goods

  • For baths, epsom salts  are inexpensive way to deliver magnesium to the body. I prefer unscented ones, about 2 cups per bath. If you have tight muscles, this can be a great help.

  • When you need sunscreen, go for natural. Mercola has great products:

Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30

  • For cosmetics, I like Suzanne Somers products. Suzanne is a major role model for me!

  • For facial skin care, I like HEMPress YouthDuo and the TurkeyNeckLESS. I met Jami Lin at a farmer’s market in Florida and have never seen anyone with more beautiful skin. She cares deeply about ingredients, prices, and results. I can make these 3 products last 6 months, which comes out to just over $20/month for all 3. For added shine, sometimes I use olive oil.

There are many, many natural brands to choose from. I trust health food stores to carry safe products and buy many of my body care products there. I don’t have a financial relationship with any of these companies – these are the products I use after having done a lot of trial and error.
